Volkswagen Rips Off Beach House In Ad
Itâs a long tradition in advertisingâif you want to market your product to a certain subset of the population, you use a song in the commercial that will resonate with that subset. If you canât afford to pay for the rights to that song, or just donât want to, you hire a soundalike. But this can be tricky, because artists have successfully sued over the use of soundalikes, and now Volkswagen is under fire for supposedly hiring a soundalike to mimic a song by indie-rock favorites Beach House.

Memorial Day Sides
At your Memorial Day barbecue this weekend, you're going to need to have some sides that are good to go along with whatever meat (or non-meat) choices you're grilling. Here are some sides we think pair well with barbecue food. Whichever sides you make, make sure to keep the dish at its proper temperature--don't let food sit in the sun too long.
Man Builds Motorcycle From Car Parts
If you were stuck in the desert in Africa, and your car is broken, and it seems like your life may be just ticking away, what would you do? If you're Emile Leray, you'd build a motorcycle out of your busted car and get the heck out of the desert, that's what you'd do.
Barbecue Basics
Memorial Day is this weekend and it's unofficially the start of grilling season. If you're a seasoned (pun intended!) pro, you probably won't need this article, but if you're new to grilling, you can use this as a guide for how to cook meat on the grill without giving your BBQ guests salmonella from undercooked chicken or a shoe-leather-burned piece of steak.
EMI-Universal Merger Is Something To Fear
Itâs no secret that the music industry is in trouble. Revenues for U.S. record labels have fallen by half since 2000. And while the industry likes to blame piracy for its decline, a number of factors have contributed to it; the poor economy, the industryâs hesitance at entering the digital marketplace, and the wealth of other entertainment choices, to name but three.
Finally! EZ-Pour Ketchup
In the history of science and invention, there have been several key moments. The discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel, the printing press, and the internet. But all those pale in comparison to the revolution in ketchup bottle technology that is LiquiGlide.
Teenager Lets Go In Cop Car
Florida really makes it too easy for us over here. In the latest "crazy Floridians" news, we have former high school football player Dylan DiFalco. This 19-year-old was arrested for misdemeanor battery, and that pissed him off, apparently...literally. DiFalco urinated in the backseat of the cop car.
Creepy and Kooky
If youâve ever watched The Addams Family, either the television show or the films, youâre familiar with the characters created by Charles Addams. But unless youâve read his cartoons, youâve only caught a glimpse of his bizarre genius. If the TV show and movies portrayed a world in which everyday is Halloween, in the cartoons every day is Dia de los Muertos.
Humans Meet Criteria for Being Endangered Species
We know the usual suspects when it comes to endangered animals: species like certain whales, the Siberian tiger, and the California condor are pretty obvious examples of animals that may not be around in the next few decades. But humans? We're pretty good, right? No chance of endangerment? According to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which was put forth by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, not quite.

British Town Distances Itself From Ali G
Sacha Baron Cohen is famous for his outlandish characters like Borat and Ali G, and now, the town from whence Ali G "came from" has decided to rename itself in efforts of erasing the connotation to the comedian. Staines has officially changed its name to Staines-upon-Thames, which we are certain no one will ever shorten to just regular ol' Staines...Not.

Childhood Diabetes Becoming More Common
When state fairs offer such delectable food choices as "deep fried butter" and the like, obviously people will buy it. The problem is that for many people, novelty treats aren't much of a novelty, and unfortunately, that sort of lifestyle is affecting younger people more and more. A new study shows that the rate of diabetes and pre-diabetes among kids has jumped from just nine percent in 2000 to 23 percent in 2008, and that was four years ago.
Free Falling
Ever since he first looked up to the sky and saw birds soaring above, man has yearned to fly. Then man climbed up to a very great height and he yearned not to fall. Somewhere thereafter man invented the parachute so that he could fly like a bird for a while without then getting smashed to bits like a bug on a windshield. And thus skydiving was born. But what about flying?
Minute Maid Wins Lawsuit
By now, most of us are aware that refrigerated "juice" that you buy at the grocery store isn't usually properly labeledâmost of the orange juice is from concentrate, many of the blends are just apple and grape juice, etc. As for Minute Maid, they've just settled a lawsuit that claimed they were misrepresenting a product labeled Pomegranate and Blueberry, because the beverage only contains .3% pomegranate juice and .2% blueberry juice. That's right, decimals-of-a-percent.
